Alternative Reimbursement Options

RTT® hypnotherapy can, when appropriate, be offered as part of a coaching program and invoiced as coaching. This opens the door to various reimbursement possibilities through employers, insurance, or tax.

1. Check your collective labour agreement (CAO)
More and more employers now allocate an annual coaching budget, often around €500. After approval, you can freely use this budget for personal development such as coaching or career guidance. It’s also worth checking with your HR manager whether any additional training or development budgets are available. Coaching is considered a cost-effective and widely used form of personal growth. In some cases, approval doesn't go through HR but via your direct manager or director. In all scenarios, I can support you by providing a proposal and plan that clearly outlines the purpose and value of the coaching.

 

2. Tax deduction for entrepreneurs
If you’re self-employed, coaching expenses are tax-deductible as business expenses, including VAT.

 

3. Tax deduction for individuals
In some cases, coaching or career counseling costs can be deducted as “educational or training expenses.” Certain conditions apply: the expenses must be aimed at your (future) profession, there must be a supervised learning path, and the deductible amount (minus any reimbursements) must exceed €250.

 

4. Occupational disability insurance
If you have occupational disability insurance and use coaching as part of your reintegration process, there’s a good chance the entire coaching program can be reimbursed. Check with your insurance provider in advance to confirm what’s covered.

 

5. If you receive benefits from the UWV 
The UWV often allocates funds for recovery and reintegration processes. If you’re receiving benefits, you can inquire whether funding is available to support you. Discuss this with your UWV coach.

 

6. IRO (Individual Reintegration Agreement)
If you’re receiving benefits under the Sickness Benefits Act or WAO (Disability Insurance Act) and are seeking coaching, therapy, or treatment as part of reintegration, you can apply for an IRO. This individual budget can fully or partially cover the costs of, for example, burnout recovery programs, personal effectiveness training, or coaching sessions.
